SJNKEF LAUNCHED NGO LEARNING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN INDONESIA

Sompo Insurance Indonesia in collaboration with Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Environment Foundation (SJNKEF) has launched a Learning Internship Program in Indonesia. This program will send Indonesian undergraduate and graduate students to work in environmental NGOs in Jakarta and surrounding areas. The inauguration of the NGOs Learning Internship program held at AYANA Mid Plaza Hotel on 6th February 2019.Sompo Insurance Indonesia in collaboration with Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Environment Foundation (SJNKEF) has launched a Learning Internship Program in Indonesia. This program will send Indonesian undergraduate and graduate students to work in environmental NGOs in Jakarta and surrounding areas. The inauguration of the NGOs Learning Internship program held at AYANA Mid Plaza Hotel on 6th February 2019. The NGOs Learning Internship program aims to help Indonesian students to broaden their knowledge about various environmental issues, climate change, forest conservation as well as to expand their awareness on how the environmental NGOs work to overcome these problems.

The event began with an opening speech by Mr. Masaya Futamiya as the Chairman of SJNKEF, followed by Ms. Jo Kumala Dewi, Director of Environmental Partnership at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and a brief explanation of the program by Ms. Latipah Hendarti as member of preparatory committee. Mr. Daisuke Inoue also attended the inauguration as the representative of the embassy of Japan for Indonesia together with Eric Nemitz as the Chief Executive Officer of Sompo Insurance Indonesia, and Keitaro Tsuji as the representative of JICA Indonesia. 22 Students have been selected to participate in this program, and each of them will work as an intern in one out of 10 NGOs in Jakarta and its surroundings for 75 days started from February to September 2019.

In 2000, SJNKEF has launched a similar internship program in Japan with more than 1000 participants to date.
